Happy new year! Welcome once again to Yoga for Leadership™.  This is your calm and centered leadership series where I share one yoga pose each week for you to integrate into your leadership practice.

How has this week been for you so far?

I will admit that easing back into work mode after a couple of weeks of chaotic and lovely family gatherings, mixed with quieter at home time, is a slow transition for me.

So we’ll start the year simply.

We’re picking up where we left off last year, but with a slightly different intention.

🌙 Wide-Knee Child's Pose (Balasana variation): Space, ease, and readiness to begin

Wide-Knee Child’s Pose is familiar, yet it feels different from the traditional version.

With the knees wider, the body has more room to ease toward the ground.

The arms stretch away from you.

The breath moves more freely.

The posture feels supportive without collapsing.

To me, it feels like the beginning of a spring. The gentle pull back before moving forward.

It is a resting shape, but there is a quiet readiness in it.

That is why I wanted to begin the year together with this subtly powerful pose.

Leadership does not always require a strong push forward.

Sometimes it calls for a reset.

A renewal.

A recalibration.

Space first. Then movement.

This pose felt like the deep breath I needed for this week.

🌱 Leadership Practice:

When you notice yourself rushing to define goals or direction, pause.

Create a little more space than usual.

In your calendar, your stance, or your expectations.

Breathe and notice what becomes clearer when you give yourself room.

💫 Invitation:

What might shift if you allowed yourself to begin this year with space, rather than speed?

Thanks for joining me here today.

We will build from here. One pose, one leadership practice, one week at a time.
