Welcome to Week 4 of Yoga for Leadership™.

🌱 This is your calm and centered leadership series where I share one yoga pose each week for you to integrate into your leadership practice.

So far, we have practiced:

🏔️ Mountain Pose (Tadasana) – grounding in what matters

⚔️ Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II) – leading with steady courage

🌳 Tree Pose (Vrksasana) – finding balance with calm focus

and now we move into:

🌿 Forward Fold (Uttanasana): The Power of Letting Go

Have you done a Forward Fold lately?

It’s part of my morning stretch routine, and it always gives me a rush of release.

Head down, arms hanging, spine lengthening, blood rushing toward my head.

It truly is… letting go.  To me, Forward Fold is release.

In leadership, we often forget that letting go is also an action.

It’s not passive. It’s something we can intentionally choose to move through, to move forward.

So much of leadership is about holding things together - plans, people, outcomes, expectations. But sometimes the most powerful act is to loosen the grip.

I make this mistake often. I tend to hold things too tightly:

* this email has to be perfect

* this new idea has to be bulletproof

* this facilitation design must yield this specific outcome

* this new connection must be a great client fit

* this pilot offer must get five stars from all participants

Just sharing some of these is making my chest tighten!

Forward Fold reminds me that release is not collapse; it is clarity.

When I let go, even briefly, I create space to see things differently.

I can breathe again. Think clearly again. Lead wisely again.

🌱 Leadership Practice:

When you feel tension build, in your body or your day, pause.

Take one slow forward fold, even at your desk.

Let your head drop, your shoulders soften, your breath lengthen.

Perhaps even shake your head and arms a bit.

Notice what you might release, even for a moment.

💫 Invitation:

What could you set down today to create space for clarity and calm?
